About the artists:
Brent Ryan:  “I am a Texas original, born and raised, and that does seem to matter to some folks around the Texas Hill Country where I live and frequently perform. I will say that my roots here in Texas have certainly influenced my songwriting and my “sound”. I cannot think of a better place to draw from a long legacy of top-notch songwriting than this great state of Texas.

When I was young, I had plans to be a youth pastor. I lovingly convinced my mother into purchasing me an acoustic guitar while in high school, as I never knew a youth pastor who was not clad with a guitar ready to lead the masses to beautiful vistas. I still have this goal in mind even if the route is slightly detoured. But anyhow, in no time, I was jamming along to the tunes of Alan Jackson, Garth Brooks, and our Texas King, George Strait. Country music was an early love.

Everything changed in my college years when more talented friends than I exposed me to the more roots-based Texas music of Robert Earl Keen, Jerry Jeff Walker, Lyle Lovett, Guy Clark, and Townes Van Zandt. Prior I had not realized that literary prose and a good song could be one and the same thing. I had known music that you could dance to, but now I was learning music that told a story. I wanted to tell my own stories, and maybe get a few folks dancing along the journey. (https://brentryanmusic.com/bio)

Chad Richard: “Chad Richard (pronounced REE-shard) is a native of the Sabine River bottom, where the river merges Louisiana with Texas’ soil as it winds along. Steeped in the mingling influences of the region, Richard’s songwriting and musical sensibilities fuse Cajun, Texas swing, country and blues styles into an effortlessly born offspring of each side of the river.

Richard writes songs from the heart. Like so many of us, he has loved, laughed, experienced fatherhood, suffered break-up, sorrow, and divorce, and loved again. The experiences of trying to do all the right things as single Dad shaped his songwriting in unique ways, as much as the musical influences surrounding him did.  Holding it all together by day, working in a chemical plant, he’d still play solo gigs at night.  When Walt Wilkins happened upon Richard at one of these gigs in 2012, Wilkins invited Richard to sit in Wilkins’ band, at about the same time Todd Purifoy (producer and photographer for the Texas Music Scene) approached him about making a record.  Forces aligned, connections solidified and before long Walt was producing Richard’s successful debut album:  Veteran’s Grocery (2015).” (https://www.chadrichardsongs.com/bio)

Mike Blakely: “As a singer/songwriter, Mike Blakely has released 13 albums, performed all over the U.S. and has made 16 tours to Europe. His songs have been recorded by Alan Jackson, Gary P. Nunn, Red Steagall, Flaco Jimenez and Raul Malo, Walt Wilkins & The Mystiqueros, john Arthur martinez, Randy Brown, Geronimo Trevino III and Johnny Rodriguez, Johnny Bush, Jon Chandler, Bill Barwick and others.

Mike Blakely’s latest musical album, THE OUTSIDE CIRCLE  (released June 2018), was nominated for Album of the Year through the Academy of Western Artists (2019). The title cut, “The Outside Circle,” (co-written with Damon Rogers) won a Spur Award for “Song of the Year” (2019) from Western Writers of America and was named “Pure Cowboy Song of the Year” by the International Western Music Association in 2020. Another of Blakely’s songs from the same album, “The Ballad of Josiah Wilbarger,” was a finalist for WWA’s “Song of the Year” Spur Award in 2019. Separately, the album was nominated for four awards through the International Western Music Association in 2019.

THE OUTSIDE CIRCLE, features ten songs about the wild west and cowboy life, past and present. It was released in June 2018 and was co-produced by Walt Wilkins and Ron Flynt (of Jumping Dog Studio in Austin, TX.)” (https://mikeblakely.com)
