July 2020: Newsletter #3

Happy Independence Day!

Robert Earl Keen’s Fourth on the River

As you may know, Arcadia Live is a 501(c)3 non-profit that is run by the same phenomenal group that puts on one of the Texas Hill Country’s favorite events, Kerrville’s Fourth on the River.

The theatre was donated to our group because of our demonstrated ability to bring tourists to Kerrville for this annual patriotic party on the Guadalupe River. Despite having spent a year planning a fantastic event for 2020 (and boy oh boy, did we have a great day planned!) the Arcadia Live, alongside the City of Kerrville, had to make the difficult decision to cancel our 10th Anniversary of Kerrville’s Fourth on the River due to COVID-19.

Fortunately, Robert Earl Keen’s team came up with a great solution! To offset the disappointment of our cancelled concert for Kerrville, REK and others will be performing the music we love across our social media platforms during the time they were originally slated to perform on July 4th, 2020!

This virtual concert will premiere at 7PM CST on Saturday, July 4th, 2020 on Robert Earl Keen’s Youtube channel and Facebook page. It will be featured on Arcadia Live’s Facebook and Webpage, shared on Kerrville’s 4th on the River’s Facebook, AND will be simulcast on TODAY’S HOT COUNTRY The FOX 93.9FM and 96.5FM radio station and streamed online.

We know this isn’t a perfect replacement for missing out on such a fun, annual event. We hope our community is able to safely celebrate the occasion from home with their loved ones. We plan to outdo ourselves next year with Take 2 of our 10th Anniversary celebration on July 4th, 2021.

Y’all. We have a lot of t-shirts and koozies to work our way through next year, so start getting excited!

If you’re interested in purchasing a commemorative poster (pictured below) from the event that never happened, let us know! They’ve been called a “Collector’s Item” by some.

LIMITED EDITION posters printed by Herring Printing Co. This awesome, limited edition graphic features our original 2020 lineup: Robert Earl Keen, Cody Canada & The Departed, Los Texmaniacs y Flaco Jiménez, and Willow City. We’re selling a few copies so stop by the office if you’d like to take one of these bad boys home!

Putting the FUN in Fundraising

We Met the Match!

We are incredibly proud and thankful to announce that we have met the $500,000 matching grant challenge issued by the Cailloux Foundation. With that, we are officially only $250,000 away from meeting our construction costs of $2.25 million.

We sincerely thank our community for stepping up to meet this goal. To commemorate this landmark, we invited Capital Campaign Donors to witness the Iconic Blade lit for the first time.

Our website has been updated and our list of donors has been posted!

Beyond the gratitude of future generations of Arcadia Live Fans, there are long-lasting perks to being a legacy donor! Namely, permanent recognition in the theatre. That’s right, contribute $1,000 or more and get your name on our wall.

Gifts of any amount are always appreciated and help us make a big, positive impact in our community.

It’s Been a Super Constructive Month

Construction is nearly done! A lot of the big stuff is complete, so the team has moved onto detail-work these days.

Some of June’s highlights:

  1. The interior levels of the concrete were poured! These tiers will allow for better views of the stage throughout the first floor.
  2. The boardwalk and the deck were completed! These spaces, alongside and behind the building, provide a stunning view of the Guadalupe River and the Iconic Blade.
  3. The façade is underway! Have you seen it lately? The front of our building is well on its way to returning to its original 1926 Spanish Mission style! The scaffolding came down yesterday, to reveal some beautiful details like our wrought iron railing and terra-cotta roof tiles. Soon all that will be left to install is our remake of the Classic Blade- the original Arcadia sign that graced the front of the theatre from 1926-1948. Don’t worry, we’ll cover this historic topic more in a future newsletter~
  4. I GOT TO FLIP THE SWITCH! That’s right, everyone. I, Katie, flipped the switch to officially light the Iconic Blade for the first time! It’s a thrill to see the Arcadia coming to life.
Goodbye, scaffolding. Hello to our new façade (and our wonderful neighbor, Baublit’s Jewelers).

That’s a wrap!
